Honest opinion on supporting documents list please - applicant has criminal record

Post by youandmesince2006 » Sat Jan 20, 2018 9:43 pm

Hi all,

My fiance is applying for Family of Settled Person Visa in April and we've got a checklist of documents we will be providing below. He's applying from the Philippines.

As this is a very expensive and stressful process, we ask for any help and feedback regarding our documents. Is it enough or too much? Any recommendations? Also, are we using the right barcode separators (those in bold):

Online form document
  • Print out of online application document
Sponsor evidence
  • Sponsor Certified birth certificate
  • Sponsor Certified copy of passports, all pages included
  • Sponsor letter of intention to marry
  • Sponsor Copy of BRP (I have an ILR)
Employment evidence
  • Sponsor - Stamped copy of contract
  • Sponsor - HR letter from place of employer confirming employment, gross annual salary of 18,777, contract started on 2nd October 2017 and it's permanent contract
Financial evidence
  • Sponsor cover letter for financial evidence explaining why October pay is high
  • Sponsor payslips for Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and Mar
  • Sponsor Official bank statements which also shows approved planned overdraft limit
  • Sponsor - Letter from employer confirming payslips are authentic
  • Sponsor - Casual claim form submitted in end of Sept 2017 which was paid on October payslip, hence my October pay was a lot
Consent Letters and Proof of relationships
  • Letter from both parents
  • Sponsor flight confirmation to Philippines - Jul 2016, Apr 2017 and Nov 2017
  • Proof of sponsor and applicant enrolment in the same high school in 2006
  • Skype logs
  • Viber conversation log (2013) - excel file
  • Facetime logs
  • Facebook posts
  • Engagement proof - photos of surprise engagament and ring photos
  • Love letters
  • Wedding registry booking
  • Email thread contacting wedding suppliers and registry
  • Sample of save the date invite
Accommodation
  • Letter from sponsor's parents confirming that it's okay for us to stay here and the rent will remain £350
  • Copy of sponsor's parents passport info page
  • Parent's mortgage letter?
  • House inspection report?
  • Photos of house and bedrooms
TB Certificate
  • Applicant TB certificate - March 2018
Additional documents / other
  • Applicant cover letter regarding FBI record
  • FBI identity history summary check document
  • Applicant police and NBI clearance from the Philippines
  • Applicant certified passport copy
  • Applicant IELTS A1 Life skills certificate
  • Applicant certificate of no marriage
  • Letter from Bank of Philippine confirming joint bank account details
Appendix II
  • Appendix II form

My fiance indeed has a custodial record from when he stayed in L.A with his dad and brother back in 2012. He was young and got caught up in the lifestyle there, he was arrested for weed possession and was in prison for a few days. He can't remember much details from it was a very traumatic and scary time for him, so it's not a subject we talk too much about. However, his brother has said that he was inside for less than a week.

We're currently waiting for his FBI summary check which will show the dates and conviction etc. I'm confident his conviction was less than 12 months and he would be past the 5 years wait now. However, if anyone else has helpful info on this matter - it'll be highly appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance everyone.

Your 'planned overdraft' letter is irrelevant. HO won't consider an overdraft towards the financial requirement.

Thank you for the reply CR001. The planned overdraft thing is simply my bank statements, it shows my overdraft limit on the front page. I just thought it was important to have that because I have dipped into my overdraft a few times over the past month, and I wanted HO to know that I am not using any unplanned overdraft.

Does everything else look alright to you?

Thank you ever so much.

HO don't care about this. They are only interested in your income meeting the financial requirement.
Letter from both parents
Sponsor flight confirmation to Philippines - Jul 2016, Apr 2017 and Nov 2017
Proof of sponsor and applicant enrolment in the same high school in 2006
Skype logs
Viber conversation log (2013) - excel file

Engagement proof - photos of surprise engagament and ring photos
Love letters
Wedding registry booking

Sample of save the date invite
Your viber evidence doesn't have to go back so far. In addition to this, any proof of communication should be screen shots and not 'exported' to an Excel or Word document as these are 'editable'.
Accommodation
Letter from sponsor's parents confirming that it's okay for us to stay here and the rent will remain £350
Copy of sponsor's parents passport info page
Parent's mortgage letter?
House inspection report?
Photos of house and bedrooms
Photos not needed if you have a housing inspection report. You should also include a Council tax and/or utility bill and as they own the property, copy of the title register.
Letter from Bank of Philippine confirming joint bank account details
This is not needed. For the financial requirement, it is only you as the sponsor, whose financial evidence is considered and needed.

Thank you! Please, may I ask if the housing inspection report needs to be less than 28 days old at the time of application as well?

Documents dated after online application and posting to UK

Post by youandmesince2006 » Fri Jan 26, 2018 8:29 pm

Hi all,

Can anyone please help with my queries below? My fiance is applying for the family of settled person visa in April. We aim to submit the application and pay online by 4th April. Hoping that we will be able to submit his application before any rise in application fees.

My question is would any documents dated after 4th April still be considered by Home Office?

Also, he's applying in the Philippines - is it okay for him to post his documents to me here in the UK after he has done his biometrics, I will then post all the document to Sheffield? It's more cost-effective this way as the bulk of documents are coming from me, so it would be cheaper for him to post his docs to me and I compile everything together. Is this doable?

Thanks in advance!

preferably the supporting documents should not be posted dated to the date of application and the date of application is when you pay the fee & submit the online application form. Also make sure that the documents should not be older than 28 days from the date of application. So why not your fiancee send his/her documents earlier instead after biometrics.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Hi Seagul! Thank you for your reply. He will submit on 4th April and do his biometrics straight away after that. Doesn't he need to send me his passport after his biometrics is done?

Or do I only need his part of the supporting docs and VFS Philippines will retain his passport?

Thanks!
