Spouse visa and two months short of ILR

My wife is currently on spouse visa.
She will be eligible for ILR in September 2018 through the 10 year route.
However her current visa is due to expire on the end of July 2018.

Question -
1. Must we renew her Spouse visa firstly in July 2018 and then apply for her ILR after September 2018; or
2. Is there any other scheme or process that will allow us having to pay the visa fees twice.

Same spouse as link below or is this a different query for a different person in this topic?? If the same spouse, you need to be clear on exactly what visa she holds, Tier 1 dependent or Spouse Visa, they are different.
