Fiance visa - fiance's child

Post by Bomopu » Wed Feb 28, 2018 5:19 pm

We are preparing to apply for fiance visa (and still trying to decide if it is better to marry abroad first, so that is still an option).

One consideration is my fiance has a child (6 years) who she is also applying for as her dependant to come to UK too. The fiance visa is for 6 months and she cannot work during that time but will he be able to go to school? The .gov website says for short term visas they cannot but gives examples as tourist visa or visiting family. I don't know if it includes fiance visa as a shotrt term one? We don't really want him to miss 6 months of school while we wait to convert to spouse visa.

Your fiancee's child they will only be permitted to enter the UK as a dependant if it can be shown that it would cause serious problems if they are not allowed entry at the same time. As this can be difficult to prove it may be preferable to apply after your wife has been granted FLR(M) and then apply for the child's entry visa as a dependant.

Alternatively, marry outside of the UK and apply for settlement for them both.

However, where is the child's natural father and what part has he played in her life :?:

Thanks for replying.

The child's father is dead. His grandparents will not want to look after him and they are happy for us to marry and live in UK. Do you think it would still be difficult to get a visa for him too? Obviously my fiance would not come to UK if he does not also get permission. They are Russian.

Fiance visa - bank statements

Post by Bomopu » Wed Feb 28, 2018 6:16 pm

Can anyone tell me what they are looking for on the bank statements? I'm well over the financial threshold to sponsor my fiance and her child but I can show that with my P60 and payslips. Are they looking for something else on the bank statements?

Also, should I also include my credit card statements in the application?

In my honest opinion, I believe it would be simpler if you marry in Russia and then apply for a settlement visa for your wife and step-child.

Do you meet the minimum income level of £22,400 p.a ?

Are they looking for something else on the bank statements? The Case Worker is only interested in seeing that your payslips match with the deposits shown on your bank statement.

It would be prudent to submit the father's death certificate to prove the mother has sole responsibility .
