I have a similar question or issue, so posting here.
I am applying soon for an extension to my spousal visa after completing 2.5 years.
My wife an I were out of the country for 10 months during 2017 as I had to be based in India for my PhD research. I have a letter from my university (University of London) stating that I was away for this purpose. We have bank statements from India showing that we were living together while we were there etc.
I guess my question is do we need anything more than this, and whether this would be an issue (either for extension or later for ILR).
My reading of the rules is that as long as you were away connected to the purpose of being here, have a genuine subsisting relation, are still intending to live/settle in UK - this should be okay?
