Converting Fiance visa to Spouse visa: Urgent

Post by pharaohhotep » Thu Jun 28, 2018 10:26 pm

Hi all,

I got my fiancé visa in April to expire in August, and am getting married this weekend of June. I intend to convert to spouse visa by next week. My questions go thus:

1.     We used my fiancée’s parent’s address as proof of accommodation and we stayed there for like a month before getting our own place. Is it okay that we did this and to use our new address for this applications.

2.     What are the supporting documents we need for application?

3.     Is it better to fill the forms online or by hand?
4. Whats the better submission mode that ensure speedy decision making or which one is better: online, post or in person?

Please I need all the advice you all can proffer to enable a successful applications.

Cheers.

1. Fine yes.

2. The FLR M form tells you what you need. Much the same as you needed for the fiance visa but more current.

3. Either, your choice.

4. There is only postal or in person which is same day decision and costs an extra £610 on top of the £1033 visa fee and £500 immigration health Surcharge.

Hi Can I ask, how does this process work please.

I am trying to establish what would be the best route. Is the fiance visa different to marriage visitor visa?

Also if you register marriage in the UK, then the spouse has to go back to home country and apply for a family visa?

Essentially I am trying to make sure that I take the path of least resistance and get the visa asap.

many thanks

Thanks for your kind response CR001,
1. Does it mean , i will more pics and the likes.

2. Thought the health surcharge is 1000GBP.

3. Furthermore, how long will it take for decision to be made if done through the postal mode.

Cheers

Not clear on what you mean here??
2. Thought the health surcharge is 1000GBP.
Yes, for 5 year visa but FLR(M) is only for 2.5 years so IHS is £500 at present (due to double later this year).
3. Furthermore, how long will it take for decision to be made if done through the postal mode.
Up to 8 weeks, sometimes a bit longer.

1. I mean, will i have to send pictures as well to prove subsisting relationship.

2. How do i get the exact price for the surcharge because i keep seeing 1000GBP every where.

3. Wow, i do not have that time left on my visa, maybe paying for the premium will be helpful.

You are very kind Casa,

Please another question.

I want to make a premium appointment now and am seeing something like 28 days qualifying period.

My Fiance visa expires on the 27th of August and i got married last week, can i book for an appointment now and it will be valid.

The 28 day rule doesn't apply when switching from fiance to spouse. You can apply at any time following the marriage and before the visa expires.

Hey Casa and the forum,

As a person on a fiance visa, what will be my answer in the section 2.2 as there seem to be varying answers to this online. Will this be the first time, i am applying for a visa or extension of stay.

Cheers.
