what happens after you get spouse visa?

Post by mkpash » Sun Aug 26, 2018 1:02 pm

Hello dear members,

I have applied for a spouse visa almost a month ago from VFS in Abu Dhabi (UAE). My wife and daghter are british citizens and i will be joining them soon.

My question is what is the next step after getting spouse visa.
Do i have to go to UK within a month, sign a paper and come back? How much time do i have after i sign a paper to get back to UK?
I have to give a notice period to my current employer before i leave so can anyone please guide me on this.

Thanks alot,
Mustafa

My question is what is the next step after getting spouse visa.
You come to the UK.
Do i have to go to UK within a month,
Yes as your initial visa will only be valid for 30 days. You then have to collect your Biometric Residence Permit (which is your 2.5 year visa) from the Post Office you nomiated.
sign a paper and come back? How much time do i have after i sign a paper to get back to UK?
Not sure what 'paper' you are referring to?
I have to give a notice period to my current employer before i leave so can anyone please guide me on this.
Did you state in your application that you want to travel on a certain date?? If you cannot leave your home country within the 30 days of your visa, you will have to apply for a 30 day visa vignette transfer which costs about £160. This can take a couple of weeks.

Yes you can.

There is no absence limit but obviously to qualifying for extensions and ILR, you must have proven residence in the UK and proof of cohabitation with your spouse.

Hello again,

a few more questions please.

a. i already had a valid family visit visa before i applied for a spouse visa. Once i get the vignette (30 day visa after approval of spouse visa), will the family visit visa be cancelled or will i have 2 visas on my passport?

b. once i get my brp (biometric residence permit), can i travel in and out of UK freely without a visa?

Thanks again for your information.

Regards,
Mustafa

The previous visa will be void as you are unable to hold more than one visa,

b. once i get my brp (biometric residence permit), can i travel in and out of UK freely without a visa? Your BRP is your 'visa' for travelling to and from the UK. If your nationality has required you to have a visa to enter certain countries previously, you will continue to need one until you have been granted British citizenship.

Thanks again for your information.

I plan to travel to UK for getting my BRP (if my spouse visa is approved) and then travel back to UAE to give my one month notice for resignation. Will i be able to travel back to UK anytime i want just by showing my BRP? or would i have to apply for a visa for UK again?

Thanks for your support,

Mustafa

Yes, with BRP and passport.
Or would i have to apply for a visa for UK again?
No! Your BRP card is your VISA!

60 working days. You probably hear something closer to end of October. If you want an update you can email or call UKVI

Spouse visa

Post by mkpash » Mon Oct 22, 2018 1:29 pm

Dear all,

I had submitted my biometrics and application in Abu Dhabi, UAE on 26th July, 2018 for settlement visa.

Since 60 working days are over, i called UKVI today and they told me that a decision has been made on 15th Oct, 2018,

They also said it will take 10 more working days for my documents to be returned.

Does it normally take this long or will i be getting any news within these 10 working days?

Regards,
