Tier 5 to FLR(M) unmarried partner application question and checklist

Post by towngas » Sat Oct 27, 2018 5:15 pm

Hi,

My girlfriend (applicant) and I (sponsor) both moved from Hong Kong to UK on 21 April 2018. She holds a Tier 5 YMS visa which expires April 2020 while I am a British Citizen (by descent). We have been living together (in HK and UK) for more than 2 years now so we are making the FLR(M) application in premium centre next month.

Could you please review my document checklist and let me know if anything missing?

Application
1. Completed application form
2. 2 passport photos of applicant
3. 1 passport photo of sponsor
4. UKVI appointment checklist
5. Applicant’s passport
6. Applicant’s BRP
7. Sponsor’s passport

Financial (we will be relying on category A with sponsor's salary alone)
8. Sponsor's employer letter
9. Sponsor's employment contract
10. Sponsor's bank statements showing 6 months of salary from May – Oct
11. Sponsor's 6 months of payslips from May – Oct

English
12. Applicant’s IELTS for UKVI (B2)

Accommodation
13. Tenancy agreement in our joint names
14. Council tax bill in our joint names

Cohabitation / Correspondence to same address

(Hong Kong Address)
15. 2016-11-02 Applicant, Hang Seng Bank statement
16. 2016-11-02 Sponsor, Hang Seng Bank statement
17. 2017-04-01 Applicant, Hang Seng Bank statement
18. 2017-04-01 Sponsor, Hang Seng Bank statement
19. 2017-08-02 Applicant, Hang Seng Bank statement
20. 2017-08-02 Sponsor, Hang Seng Bank statement
21. 2018-01-27 Applicant, Electricity Bill
22. 2018-02-09 Sponsor, Gas Bill

(UK Address)
23. 2018-05-17 Joint, council tax bill
24. 2018-11 Joint, HSBC Bank statement

Evidence of relationship
25. Photos taped to Proper photos taped to A4 paper and annotated with date, people, location

Questions:

1. When I moved from HK to UK, my company provided a service apartment for two weeks before we rented our own place. Should we include the service apartment in 6.8? We do not have any correspondence for that address. We are worried that if we leave it out we will have a gap. Do I need a cover letter explaining this?

2. Is evidence of relationship needed for this application? I have been getting mixed information on this.

3. For accommodation, the tenancy agreement did not mention the number of bedrooms, do I need a letter from landlord on this? We are occupying the whole two bedroom flat.

4. Do I need to attach a cover letter explaining why we do not have statements in joint names back in Hong Kong? We just did not bother to set anything up back then...

Thanks a lot for your help.

I think non-uk proofs of cohabitation might not be counted.

They will if they are to prove the 2 year co-habitation period has been met.

Wasn't the unmarried partner route from abroad long time been abolished which may mean that foreign cohabitation evidence doesn't count.

No it is not 'long time abolished'. Nothing has changed in regards to the Unmarried Partner Visa.
