Arranged Marriage

Post by arash_uk » Thu Nov 08, 2018 2:40 pm

Hi,

I am a bit confused about the arranged marriage and the relevant question on the application form.

It is the scenario:
Someone was introduced to his partner through a family member (say his brother as his brother thought they would be a suitable couple), they date for months, talk and plan and decide to get married and then informed the families.

Is it considered as an arranged marriage? Definition of the UKVI is not very clear:

In an Arranged Marriage, the family of both spouses take a leading role in arranging the
marriage, but the choice of whether or not to accept the arrangement remains with the
prospective spouses.

Not it is not an arranged marriage in this sense if they dated and then decide to marry. They were merely introduced.

An arranged marriage is usually when the couple only meet the day before or on their wedding day.

A lot arranged marriages many times get turned into love marriages. For example couples introduced by family members/relatives who before marriage dated each other than marry :D :P
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
