Part-time work in between Tier 2 change of employment

Post by kazpar » Mon Dec 17, 2018 11:24 am

Hi Everyone,

My employment (under a Tier 2 visa) at my current company ends on 31st December. I have already found a new employer, who is currently awaiting their Tier 2 Sponsor license (week 5 now). My new employer wants me to start working for them from 3rd January on a part-time (20 hours/week) basis, in case there are delays in acquiring the sponsor license and subsequently, applying for my new Tier 2 visa.

In this regard, I wanted to know if I am allowed to work part-time after my current employment ends till I get a new Tier 2 visa? Also, what are the general working rights during a Tier 2 curtailment period (in case, there are further delays)?

Thanks!

No you are not permitted to work 20 hours a week for any employer if you are no longer working for your main tier 2 sponsor.

Until you get a new visa, you are not permitted to work in any capacity if you have left your tier 2 sponsoring employer.
