Tier 2 Extension and PBS Dependant Extension

Post by RhythmMe » Thu Mar 21, 2019 9:37 pm

Dear all,

My first post in the forum. Apologies in advance if I am missing any details in my question.

___________________________________________________________________________________
-Came to the UK in September 2013 on Tier 4 General (my partner did the same)
-Switched from Tier 4 to Tier 2 General in December 2014 (my partner changed from Tier 4 to PBS Dependant)
-Changed employer and applied another Tier 2 General in 2016 (partner applied PBS extension - same time)
-Now time for extension in June 2019 (same for PBS dependant)
-Eligible to apply for ILR from December 2019 (same for PBS dependant)
___________________________________________________________________________________

Questions:

1. As Tier 2 General is a maximum of 5 years 14 days, how many months visa am I applying this time?
2. What details will my HR department need from me this time for generating CoS?
3. Do I apply for Tier 2 General only for 6 months and 14 days and then literally on the 15th day apply for ILR? Will I be overstaying if I don't apply for ILR?
4. What letter do I need to provide from employer to prove I am still needed after this extension? What should it actually state? (e.g. Ms. X is needed in this position for ___ amount of time or needed in future)
5. Do I need to be careful about anything at this time (e.g. apply 10 days priority service rather than 8 weeks application)?
6. Am I right in saying the process for Tier 2 extension is >> Application Form Online>>IHS surcharge>>Book Biometrics with new UKVCAS>>send passport via post??
7. How to book the priority 10 days application? Can I do it today for a date in April?

Thank you for your help in advance and sincerest apologies for the length of the question.

1. As Tier 2 General is a maximum of 5 years 14 days, how many months visa am I applying this time?
You can only a Tier 2 visa for a maximum of 6 years, so till December 2020.
2. What details will my HR department need from me this time for generating CoS?
Surely your sponsor knows what is required?
3. Do I apply for Tier 2 General only for 6 months and 14 days and then literally on the 15th day apply for ILR? Will I be overstaying if I don't apply for ILR?
You qualify for another extension up to a maximum of a total of 6 years on Tier 2.
4. What letter do I need to provide from employer to prove I am still needed after this extension? What should it actually state? (e.g. Ms. X is needed in this position for ___ amount of time or needed in future)
You really should ask ILR questions in the ILR sub forum when you get to the point of preparing to apply.
5. Do I need to be careful about anything at this time (e.g. apply 10 days priority service rather than 8 weeks application)?
It is your choice which option you choose to use when applying.
6. Am I right in saying the process for Tier 2 extension is >> Application Form Online>>IHS surcharge>>Book Biometrics with new UKVCAS>>send passport via post??
UKCVAS offers the scanning of documents, then no need to post originals to HO.
7. How to book the priority 10 days application? Can I do it today for a date in April?
Booking the appointment is part of the online extension application process. You cannot book the appointment separately or before you apply.

Many thanks for the information CR001.

Can I check if the main applicant has already added PBS Dependant on their application, does the PBS Dependant still needs to fill another separate application? (in the UK)
