my wife here on a spouse visa 2.5 years - expires October 2020. We want to reapply for the extension.
I get PIP so as I understand we have to meet adequate maintenance and NOT minimum income threshold
My pip is £249.00 a month so as I understand this equates to £62.25 a week.
Current income support rate is £116.80 so this makes me short by £54.55 a week.
I am told I can evidence this with any form of employment or cash savings.
In terms of cash savings - I have £3.2k in an instant saver account. This has been held for over six months. So as I understand they divide this by the number of weeks of stay granted if the applicaton was to go ahead, 2.5 years so 130 weeks? this then works out at £24.61? I have savings of over £10k but rather stupidly they are in a notice account and I didn't realise that they had to be an instant access account - they are not able to be withdrawn as it's Al Rayan bank and they dont allow it instantly withdrawn even if you pay a penalty

Obviously this means I am still short of the adequate maintenance amount....by around about £30?
So here goes, I have been looking for employment for the last year and have honestly found nothing despite making application after application. It's been a real struggle and I've been at breaking point several times. Then COVID happened and it become from difficult to impossible

I lost my previous job relied on for the previous application in 2018. Haven't worked since but am at university doing a Masters degree and do student Ambassador work there since 2016 - I earned about £500 from September 2019-March 2020. The money varies alot, the bulk was in December.
There is some student jobs going at uni but they are voluntary roles. Am I right in thinking that the adequate maintenance does not have to be for six months? Less is OK too? It says the letter should say the form of employment. There is a job going for a 3 month contract with the potential to be extended and I have applied for that but will this help us? it's a temp contract... is all that matters is that I have this income at the time of application or will the start dividing this by a year or 130 weeks or 30 months.
