Proof of Accommodations/Where to Stay

Post by TeaandCrumpets » Fri Jan 26, 2024 8:31 pm

Hello,
I am currently completing my application for my Skilled Worker Visa. I am from the United States of American, and have a U.S. passport.
I am hoping to have my application submitted prior to the increase in the health surcharge.
The applications asks, "Do you know where you will be staying in the UK?" "Accommodation details- Where do you plan to stay in the UK?" -Hotel, private housing, with friends?
Do I need to provide specific detail of where I will be staying, such as the specific hotel, airbnb booking, letter from a friend I will stay with, address, dates, contact details, itineraries ? And do I need to provide documented proof of where I will stay/accommodation, permanent or otherwise? Such as a hotel, airbnb booking, letter from a friend that I will stay with?
I greatly appreciate all help and input. I wish everyone success with the visa process.

For those I am aware of this is something that the employer sorts for them and provide the address/accommodation details or arrangements for the initial period of entry.
You may want to approach your employer to give insight on this.
And others did not have to provide proof of anything, only populated the form with the address details.
If a person, think form asks for name and relationship.

Biometrics appointments- fingerprint questions

Post by TeaandCrumpets » Tue Jan 30, 2024 9:49 pm

Hi
I am wondering for the biometrics appointments, how are the fingerprints taken?
Do they roll the fingerprints?

Thank you for your reply.
There are two types of fingerprints slaps (the fingers are just set on the screen) and rolling prints (the fingers are rolled across the screen).

I am wondering which ones are required by the home office.

I work in education so I need my fingerprints to be taken for my job.
Unfortunately my fingerprints are difficult to capture. Especially rolled fingerprints.
I am hoping my UK biometrics appointment goes to smoother.
And that problems with fingerprints is not grounds for a refusal
I read on immigrationboards that some people had similar problems when they applied for their visas.
They suggested a 'Annex - 3 Biometric, Biographic and Identification Exception Referral'.

Thank you for all of your help. :)

Not sure this helps.
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... mation.pdf

Haven't heard of any cases of applicants failed due to fingerprint issues.
My own prints at the time taken at a Post Office, just fingers on glass, no rolling, nobody assisting.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.

There are people without fingerprints and accommodation is made for them in the biometrics capture system as you have rightly read.

Thank you for your reply.
I will be staying at a hotel or airbnb when I first arrive. Then I will look for more permanent housing.
What info about the hotel/airbnb is necessary to give?
How many days/weeks of temporary accommodations does the home office expect us to plan for when we arrive?

Post by TeaandCrumpets » Wed Feb 07, 2024 12:04 am

I will have my biometric appointment at a USCIS center (VFS) in the United States.
I am wondering do they scan all the pages of the passport ? or just the data page?

Many thanks for the assistance. :)

Either way should not be an issue. Or have you got a reason to worry or only asked out of curiosity?

Post by TeaandCrumpets » Thu Feb 08, 2024 4:29 pm

Are they available for people submitting UK visas?
Are they available for all VFS locations, particularly in the United States?

Client Contract Confusion????

Post by TeaandCrumpets » Thu Feb 22, 2024 11:36 pm

On my Skilled Worker Visa Defined CoS my employer ticked yes for "Client Contract" and then she put the information about my regular contract under the description for "Client Contract"

What does this mean?
Is it an error?

Thanks for everyone's help.

Prorated salary

Post by TeaandCrumpets » Sat Feb 24, 2024 3:01 pm

For a skilled worker visa, does a prorated salary need to be based on the going rate salary or the 26,200 minimum?

The going rate salary is 15,000

Many thanks.

Self explanatory.
The minimum salary for the type of work you’ll be doing is whichever is the highest out of the following 3 options:

£26,200 per year
£10.75 per hour
the ‘going rate’ for the type of work you’ll be doing

Your employer must make sure your job pays at least the minimum wage and follows the UK rules for how many hours a week you work. If your employer does not do this, your application will be refused.

Post by TeaandCrumpets » Sat Feb 24, 2024 11:32 pm

For individuals applying for a skilled worker visa, will the salary threshold changes in April be based on the CoS dates or the application dates?

Thanks again.

For a SWV CoS is there a difference between salary based on year (annual) and salary based on hourly?

If so, what?
