Question about absence and Ilr

Post by Syncope » Tue Dec 06, 2022 8:09 pm

Good evening dear forum and members,

I'm collecting documents for ilr application, I came with Tier 2 visa, which then became skilled worker- health and care visa.

My question is; during covid pandemic, I went to my home country for 8 days then came back. I isolated at home as my country was on red list, but continued to work as my department allowed it (I'm a hospital doctor, working from home is not usual, but our specialty allows it).

I tried reaching my supervisor at the time, for a letter or something, but he is not working at that hospital anymore, I could not reach him, god know where he is.

- Do you think I will be asked about that?

And I got a document from HR few months ago, stating that "he adhered to his rota, took paid annual leaves only" something along the lines of that.

- would that letter be enough, and will it be a problem if the document is several months old by the time I submit my application?

Note: this is my old workplace, I'm employed in another hospital now.

Thanks very much in advance
Best regards

There is no requirement to get a letter from a previous employer.

sorry if this was asked before but when I was making the application it asks me to tick what proof I will upload, otherwise I can't finish the application

That page shows up, I copied the text

"Evidence of your absence from the UK and Crown Dependencies

What evidence will you provide to support the reasons for all absences from the UK and Crown Dependencies?
(Required)
You can select more than one option.

Letter(s) from employer(s) detailing reasons for work-related absences including periods of paid annual leave from the UK and Crown Dependencies

Letter from applicant detailing any exceptionally harsh consequences to them caused by the change in the way absences from the UK are counted

Official documents: (e.g. medical, birth or death certificates)

Letter from travel companies to evidence disruption to travel

Other"

Thanks a lot

ILR, duration of the job contract

Post by Syncope » Sun Dec 18, 2022 2:30 pm

Dear forum members,

I will be eligible to apply to ilr this year. My problem is, I'm a doctor working in NHS and doing specialty training. My work contract ends in 02 August 2023 or something. I will be eligible to apply to ILR in July 2023.

So is there a chance I can apply during this employment? For Ilr I need the employer letter which should be stating

"that I am still required for the employment in question for the foreseeable future"

If not, I can find another next job just to apply under their sponsorship. We have a lot of fixed term contracts in healthcare, this is not rare. How long should the next job contract be? Would a 6 months contract be okay, or 1 year? Or do we need a longer contract or even permanent one?

I will be grateful for your replies and sharing your past experiences.

Regards

ILR is only granted to people who are needed for the foreseeable future by their sponsors. However, many who work for the NHS have gotten ILR with a sponsor letter mentioning their fixed term contract length. Also, note that what you tick on the form is NOT relevant. Your application will be subjected to the immigration rules
