If the flag attached to your account is truly representing your country of origin, then it is kind of obvious that they are discriminating you based on your country of origin. Pity that the approach followed by the department seems to play a waiting game and keep people waiting indefinitely till either they leave the country or go for legal action...
Yes it does... I do understand your point and it's a valid point that they do discriminate us... I'm awaiting for my FOI file and then going for a legal action..
My question is for judicial review do I need to hire a solicitor or a barrister?
At this stage we all need a barrister otherwise we are never gonna get a decision. Department is waiting for that and more we delay more time will be wasted.
Thank you dear.

Is there any update from the delayed applications? Have you been in touch with the office recently?

That's true. I was told by the department that my application is submitted to the minister and i should hear something in few weeks time well i dont believe them. I already made an appointment with some well known dublin lawyer in 3 weeks time. If i dont get something before this ceremony i am taking this matter to court.

INIS have clearly started lying. My friend is a solicitor and he said anyone who has to wait for one year or more, can take Inis to court. It would cost around 1500 euro max for the whole process, but I think it s worth it. It is utterly ridiculous and disgraceful the way they are treating people now a days.

It is very strange that they don't send approvals as only 1 month left to ceremony

For the last ceremony (26/11/2018) the approvals came out around 22/10 or 35 days before the ceremony.

That would mean for ceremony on 29/4/2019 the approvals would be out on 25/3... so still a couple of weeks to wait.

Hi guys!!

I dont see any hope to get approval for this ceremony on 29th. God knows how long more we have to wait to get over this stress. They continuously lying over the phone that application have been submitted to the Minister bla bla. My solicitor advised me to not to contact them.

Will the solicitor do anything or will it help in getting a decision. If I don't get a decision from them in the next couple of weeks I will get a solicitor. I applied on 22nd July 2016 it has been nearly 3 years. I don't know what the hell are they doing with my file. I got a copy of my file under FOI and since September 2016 they haven't even touch my file.

Bro solicitor can't do anything unless he/she is not a good player, First of all you have to make sure that your case is 100% strong and genuine. 2nd) you need to hire some barrister who can threat department about the court . He can challenge the department on your behalf and go for Judicial review as far as i know. I have an appointment on 1st of april to some well known lawyer so let's see what they say. I just can't wait anymore. 3 bloody years are more than enough to make a bloody decision.

Its really devastating that it looks like 2016 Applicants are exempt to get this privilege. I haven't seen anyone got approved who applied in 2016 (including me). We all should do some protest against the department. Collective action is always productive. Otherwise they will delay don't know for how long more. We should exchange our contacts numbers to each other and contact migrant council to discuss our issue.

@rockyguy @Statusquo73 Out of curiosity, what are your current statuses? Have they been submitted to the minister, or waiting on final checks, or still on second stage?
If they are waiting on final checks or have been submitted, you should receive the decision before the next ceremony.
If they are still on second stage, I would recommend you to get a lawyer involved.

I have got my so called " Advanced stage" letter back in october 2018 after my solicitor wrote them a letter. I rang them 2 weeks ago and a lady said my application is with the minister and i should get some reply in few weeks time. My solicitor strictly advised me to not to contact the department but i did. I don't want to wait anymore and i am not hoping to get approval/decision before this ceremony. Sorry if i am being too negative but i am telling you the facts. Did you all contact the department recently?

Yes I call them a few times in the past two months.

Not sure why your solicitor asked you not to contact the department. Phone calls won’t have a direct impact on your application anyway as they are a different team.

Call them in the morning. Ask specifically if your application is on the final checks or if it has been submitted. Last time when I called they told me that it has been submitted and no decision has been made yet. The next day I got my approval.

If your application has been submitted, you should have your decision in the coming days. The minister won’t have a pile of applications on his desk but he probably only signs the applications once every 10 days.

Congrats for your approval. in previous months i was also told about final checks and external agency now they are saying about submitted to minister. I was told once that my file has been completed. It's really hard to believe them. Hopefully i get something in 1-2 weeks time if things goes well.
How long it takes to pass the final checks? And what are the basically any idea?

The first time they told me that my application was on the final stage is in late January or early February. The last time is on 7 March. - Give or take, it's about 5-6 weeks. It may have been on the final stage before that, but I didn't call them during December so I don't know.

The first time they confirmed that my application was submitted to the minister is on 14 March. (They told me previously that it was submitted but I'm pretty sure it was some newbie that doesn't understand what each status means.) It was approved on 19 March. So this is about a week or so.

They are jokers..... not to trust what ever they say... applied in mid 2017; in October 2018 they confirmed on email that they are preparing the application for submission to minister. Now upon talking to them on phone they said that its not submitted to minister and they are still waiting for response from 3rd party.
don't know on which one to believe... its almost 2 years now and no sign of conclusion.
