Re: URGENT - Boarding Eurostar in Paris with copy of BRP

Ordinarily without seeing evidence of admissibility (i.e. the residence card) the carrier should refuse boarding as Indoneisans require visas and if she is refused entry they would be liable to a Carriers Liability charge. However as you know, with Eurostar and juxtaposed controls, the UK ...

Re: Does a visitors visa count towards unmarried spouse proo

You're not the first on a T5 YM visa coming to the end of their visas with boyfriend in the UK and trying to find a way not to separate. Best option: If you want to settle in the UK with said boyfriend, return home as required/planned (as you cannot switch from T5 visa in UK) and apply for a visa on ...

Re: Getting friend into Blighty!

The letters of invitation won't add much, but the letter from her employer should. A lot of US citizens get just 2 weeks holiday a year, so a month-long trip may provoke questions. Having a letter from the employer addresses the question in case it's asked. Have a phone number for the employer to ...

Re: If I am banned from UK entry, can I just transit?

As long as your flights enter and leave from London Heathrow, then you may be OK. Heathrow has a direct airside transit facility, where it is possible to remain airside in order to switch flights. In that case you wouldn't require leave to enter the UK and so wouldn't need to see immigration. Check ...

Re: Can I apply for a fiancé visa?

Overstaying a few days is unlikely to jeopardise any visa applications, but they're not going to disregard 11 years. But if your chances of being granted a visa sound bad from that... If you were removed, as in you failed to leave voluntarily and the Home Office had to enforce your removal, then ...

Re: American boyfriend trying to visit TEMPORARILY

With the CTA open borders arrangement, does that mean as long as my bf makes it to Ireland, gets in my car, we get our passports checked and possibly the boot too, that's pretty much it? No immigration officers/interrogations etc? No, I'm afraid that's not it... Based upon what you're saying, it ...

Re: American boyfriend trying to visit TEMPORARILY

How would I even start a complaint procedure against the country? Surely I'm at a major disadvantage from the word "go"? Not as hard as you might think. For some reason  Border Force have a well defined complaints policy: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/border-force/about ...

Re: American boyfriend trying to visit TEMPORARILY

Hi again Thanks for clarifying. Apologies for my assumption on genders - no offence intended. I cannot see any reason why he'd be taken to a high security prison unless that person was wanted somewhere. Prisons are for criminals, those remanded over a criminal offence, and prison officers. They're ...

Re: Returning After Denied Entry

Sorry Wanderer, I respectfully disagree. Neither the US nor Australia are visa mandatory countries. If a person has a previous refusal (or anyone else for that matter) and wishes to obtain prior Entry Clearance (as a visa for non visa nationals is more correctly called), they may if they wish choose ...

Re: Returning After Denied Entry

You will always have been refused entry to the UK, but assuming no deception/false documents etc, then time is a great healer. A four year old refusal isn't something you should worry too much about now, as a lot of water has gone under the bridge since. Your personal circumstances must've changed ...

OK Zel, I'm sorry but I'm not completely getting your story. Sorry to be blunt but setting aside all the bitterness and any exaggeration in what you've said, am I right in assuming he flew into the UK without a visa and just sought entry as a visitor on the border (as is allowed for US citizens ...

Re: Re-entering as a Tourist

Difficult to give any definitive suggestions, but depending on your circumstances then maybe you have a rental agreement with a rental period going someway into the future, or a mortgage commitment? Neither mean you won't let/sublet the property of course, but it could help towards building a ...

Re: The meaning of "valid from" and "valid until"

Be very careful with this plan. Note vinnys emphasis of may . A T5 YM visa is valid for 2 years, not 2+ years by tagging on a visit at the start/end of the trip. The 2 years is intended to be ample for all work and sightseeing, not just work. Leaving and re-entering using the visa on the second ...

Re: Are there flags raised on my passport?

Hi tengolacamisanegra First things first it's not a visa waiver scheme as you understand it, that's a US thing. The UK "grants leave to enter". Each time you appear at the UK border, the officer will decide whether you qualify for entry, and if so will "grant leave". That leave will usually be for 6 ...

Re: Re-entering as a Tourist

Hi tyup12 Hmmm, "typically are not encouraged to re-enter after the expiry of a Tier 5 Visa". That's a bit of an understatement. The T5 visas are often abused, usually though it's the Youth Mobility route, where the holder has after 2 years established something of a life here and doesn't want to ...
