FLR-M extension - Any Option to avoid IHS fee increase?

Post by KVP » Thu Dec 27, 2018 2:40 pm

Hi all,

I got the news from this forum that IHS is doubled from 08-Jan-2019. Many thanks for that.

My spouse & child will complete 2.5 years in 24-Mar-2019. Their current visa are valid till June 2019.

To avoid the fee increase I thought of doing one of the following before 08-Jan-2019.

Option 1:
Complete the online application, pay the (Application + current IHS) fees and send the documents "by Post" later after 24-Mar-2019.

Option 2:
Complete the online application, pay the (Application + current IHS + Premium appointment) fees, book same-day premium appointment (or postpone the appointment) to a date fall after 24-Mar-2019.

I understand that the Option B is okay to try but could you let me know if Option A is also possible? I am not sure what would be "application date" in both options above.

In case both are not possible or prone to problems, please let me know.

thank you.

There is no longer a 'premium same day decision' service. In most cases, date of online payment and submission is date of application. Applying too early, you also risk a shortfall for ILR which will require a 3rd extension to cover a couple of months.

On what date did your dependents enter the UK on their settlement visas?

Many thanks for prompt reply as always CR001.

They entered UK on 24-Sep-2016.

They should only apply within 28 days before reaching 30 months residence counted from date they entered the UK otherwise you will end up having to do a 3rd application to cover a potential shortfall for ILR.
