Hello Guys

We are just about to submit our application and I’m freaking out a little. We are applying for the fiancé visa and I heard there is also something called unmarried partner visa?

When filling in the details online and downloading the PDF it says type of visa / application - Apply to enter the UK as a partner. Is this correct for fiancé visa?

Also I want to ask again on the same lines. In the question What is your relationship status? They do not have Fiancé, the closest options are single (means that you have never been married or in a civil partnership and that you do not currently consider yourself in a relationship) or unmarried partner (means that you currently consider yourself in a relationship but are not married or in a civil partnership). I would assume unmarried partner as she is my fiancé?

Last thing I keep noticing is people mentioning when do the application the options settlement, Settlement, Marriage. Why do I keep seeing this and what does it mean as I’ve not come across it?

Apologies if these questions seem a little silly to you guys, but I’m just freaking out now that I may get something wrong.

Many thanks in advance and happy new year
1. An unmarried partner visa is specifically for those that meet the mandatory requirement if living together in a relationship akin to marriage with substantial documentary evidence for the 2 years preceding date of application. You clearly don't meet that requirement.

2. If you are applying for a fiance visa to marry in the UK, it is "settlement"; "settlement", "marriage", which will be a 6 month visa to enable you to marry. If you are not seeing these options, then you must have selected the wrong visa categories etc at the beginning of the application form. Your partner cannot work on this initial 6 month fiance visa not utilise free NHS services. Once mrried, you apply for the spouse visa within the UK on form FLR M, meeting all the same requirements again, to get a 2.5 year visa.

Hello

Thank you for the reply

I will tell you exactly how I applied if you can inform me if this is correct (all done through www.gov.uk)

Clicked on Family visas
Clicked on Apply as a partner and spouse
Clicked on Apply outside the UK
And chose visa type Appendix FM Partner

Would this be the correct one?

Also just to confirm once I have chosen this it says in one of the paragraphs the following;

How long you can stay:

If your application is successful, you will get permission to stay 33 months, or for 6 months if you are applying as a fiancé or proposed civil partner. After this you will be able to extend your stay.

Hope that helps

Yes it is correct and you are applying for a 6 month fiance visa, which would be Settlement/Settlement/Marriage, as previously advised.

There are usually 3 drop down menus which will give the above options.

Perfect many thanks

At least now I know it is correct, not sure why it doesn’t say settlement; settlement; marriage though.

Also from my original post on the subject am I right to assume the relationship stays is unmarried partner as she is my fiancé rather than single?

Again many thanks in advance

Say 'Single' assuming neither of you ever married before.

That correct neither of us have been married

So single even though unmarried partner wording is “Currently consider yourself in a relationship” we are obviously engaged and definitely consider ourselves in a relationship?

Many Thanks

Hello Guys

electronic certificate
If it is in allowed format (pdf/jpeg) & size (6mb) then should be fine.

28 DAY RULE

Post by mark2019 » Thu Jan 02, 2020 8:53 pm

Hello Guys

We are literally just awaiting the British council to re open on 6th January in Mexico so we can get her A1 certificate sent so we can book biometrics.

I have kept noticing about a 28 day rule. Does this apply to all the supporting documents or financial only?

The reason I ask is my fiancé is currently renewing her temporary residence visa in Mexico (proof you have permission to be in the country you are applying from). They take forever to do everything there. We have got a official letter from immigration saying it’s being processed, we have had it professionally translated and also apostille stamped.

This was all done on December the 4th so has now fallen outside the 28 days, is this gonna cause an issue. Just so you know this is the only document outside that time period.

Many thanks

In advance

Shall not be a problem.

You will soon see that “they” take it forever here as well, unfortunately.

When we applied for fiance visa we chose single. In this scenario they mean "never married" - if you choose unmarried partner, they may mistake your application as an unmarried partner visa which would cause issues. Though tbh I've heard of people saying single or unmarried partner & it's been fine so I wouldn't worry too much but we chose single and my instinct would be to avoid any confusion with unmarried partner visa which requires 2 years solid cohabitation evidence.

It doesn't apply to all but latest payslip & bank statement, employer letter strictly whereas landlord noc letter & property inspection report ideally be dated no earlier than 28 days.

PARENTAL COVERING LETTER FOR FIANCÉ

Post by mark2019 » Fri Jan 03, 2020 6:16 pm

Would any of you suggest a covering letter from my parents giving a brief description saying that have met my fiancé and approve of her joining the family or is this just a waste of time?

Many Thanks

BARCLAYS SELF SEVICE BANK STATEMENTS

Post by mark2019 » Fri Jan 03, 2020 8:45 pm

Hello Guys

I went I to Barclays Bank to get a letter from them to say my statements are real, they said to me they no longer do this and that if it is documents to use for the home office then to use the self service machine to print the statements.

Now the women reassured me these would 100% be acceptable but would like you guys opinion. They come out in black and white, look like a normal statement and have the bank stamp with sort code and branch name on each page. Do you think these are acceptable?

It will probably come up as optional on the online form.

You can leave it out.

PROVIDE DETAILS OF WHEN YOU AND WHERE YOU PREVIOUSLY LIVED WITH YOUR PARTNER

Post by mark2019 » Tue Jan 07, 2020 5:59 pm

Hello Guys

just finalising the Partner FM application on the gov.uk site.

We are applying as a fiancé and asks 2 questions if someone could clarify please?

Why do you not live with your partner?
For this we simply put because I am not a British citizen and do not have residence status in the Uk (this one I’m pretty sure of the answer)

Have you ever lived with your partner within or outside the Uk? I visited my fiancé 2 times for 10 days and then she came here to the UK on a visit visa for 4 months and stayed with myself at my parents, would that be considered living together? Or shall I simply answer no to this one?

Many Thanks Guys

Your second question is a “no”. They are asking for a standard life together, not just visiting for a couple of months. I agree this is confusing and I had the same question when was filling in my questionnaire.

Thank you Korekt

Can I also ask you, I have asked before but wanted a second opinion

In the question What is your relationship status? (Online partner FM form) They do not have Fiancé, the closest options are single (means that you have never been married or in a civil partnership and that you do not currently consider yourself in a relationship) or unmarried partner (means that you currently consider yourself in a relationship but are not married or in a civil partnership). Which would we put for my fiancé?

Many Thanks

You can enter 'Single'.

At that stage of the application where the question is asked, that definition of 'Single' is more semantics. It will be obvious from the whole application and the supporting documents you submit that you're in a relationship, albeit not as married persons.
