immigration applications

Post by clcl » Thu Mar 12, 2020 11:35 pm

Hello Everyone,

I have a question regarding Naturalisation online application. It asks: Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad?

I wonder what it means by immigration applications. Are applications made for the student visa and T2 dependent visa before considered as immigration applications?

My first time being in the UK for a year was on a student visa 20 years ago, then I came back to the UK for study in 2008 on a student visa and continue to live here. Since 2008, I have applications several times until I got ILR. So before I got ILR, I have a student visa, an extension of my student visa, and a T2 dependent visa and an extension of T2 dependant visa. Are those student visas and T2 dependant visa considered as immigration applications in naturalisation application? Or I can only give information about my ILR application as it refers to the applications that I made for settled status.

I'm worried because I don't have information about the visa made 20 or 10 years ago, but I have ILR and some recent visa application records.

I will be very grateful if anyone can answer this question.

All visa applications like student visa, Tier 2, etc. Enter as much info as you can. They already have all your data on their systems

Thanks very much for the response. I wonder how to deal with the applications that I made in the past without remembering details. The system makes each application you add must provide information like the location where it made outside the UK. I am not sure about the location and I don't remember if the fingerprint is taken as part of the application. The system only allows you to answer "yes" or "no"...

Again, eneter the details if you only know them. Ignore the ones you have no info on. This is not an important question or a big deal

First arrival date in the form AN

Post by clcl » Sat Mar 14, 2020 11:06 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm filling the form AN for naturalisation. In section Trips outside the UK, it asks "When did you first arrive in the UK?"

I entered the UK for 1-year studies about 20 years ago and returned to my home country. Then I entered the UK in 2007 for studies and stay until today. In AN form, this question is asked in the section under the title "Trips outside the UK", my return to my home country 20 years ago is not a trip to me. In my ILR, the application form asks the same question with a note referring to the date of the start of the ILR period. Should I answer the first entry date in AN form in the same way?

I have a problem if I need to answer this question in AN form based on the first day I entered the UK. I only remember the year but didn't remember the month and date. The system doesn't allow the date and month unanswered. And I don't remember which airport I landed in the UK 20 years ago...

Does anyone know how to answer this question? Many thanks!

You only need to state trips made in the last 5 years leading to your Citizenship qualification.
In my ILR, the application form asks the same question with a note referring to the date of the start of the ILR period. Should I answer the first entry date in AN form in the same way?
You can answer the date as 2007 and add a short cover letter to your application explaining that you first entered the UK 20 yrs ago but can's remember the details

Don't you have past passports? You can do SAR to the Home Office, they can provide the dates

Many thanks for the help. I am wondering how to add a cover letter to the online application form. Should I put this in the last field "Do you have any other details that you would like to be considered regarding this applicant and their application to be registered as a British Citizen?"
or should I provide a letter as a part of supporting documents and upload to the https://www.ukvcas.co.uk/ after I submit online application form?

Write a letter and upload to UKVCAS with other supporting documents

Non-applying dependants

Post by clcl » Mon Mar 16, 2020 11:25 pm

Hello everyone,

I am applying for British citizenship. I don't understand what does it mean by non-applying dependants. I have two children. One has British citizenship and the other has ILR. Do they regard as my non-applying dependants in the context of the online application for British citizenship?

Many thanks

The child that has ILR is a non-applying dependant because he/she is not applying/being registered for Citizenship at the same time as you.

Many thanks for the help. My child who has ILR was my husband's T2 dependent before holding ILR. My husband has ILR too. I have ILR but not granted based on my husband's T2 dependent. Is my child still be considered as my non-applying dependents?
