Post by prss_vel83 » Tue Jan 09, 2018 9:56 pm

Hi All,

I am applying for naturalisation next week. I have total 261 days absence in last 5 year.

I have below query in filling up the form please help.

1. I was working in India between August 2013 and MArch 2014 under India payroll, total 212 days absence. I mentioned this absence in the form.

Do I need to mention India address in last 5 years address details please? or I can give UK address where I was staying before left to India ?

Thanks all for your support so far.

On what basis are you apply for citizenship, 3 years or 5 years?

Hi,

I am applying through 5 years route. (5 years Tier2 ICT+ 1 year ILR)

I am applying it on 17th Jan 2018. I was outside UK between Aug 2013 and March 2014 because my job transferred back to India.

Also can you help me, what reason I need to give for this absence? (Job Relocation/Business/Person)

There is no rule about 'continuous absence'. The rules are simple : 1) no more than 450 days absence in the 5 years immediately preceding application date and 2) no more than 90 days absence in the 12 months immediately preceding application date.

You must have been physically present in the UK on the exact same date in 2013, so not sure why you are concerned about your absence in August 2013 - May 2014.

Reason for absence you simply need to state the truth, it is not a trick question.

Thank you very much for clearing my doubts. I am clear with the absence.

Regarding the last 5 years address, Do I need to mention India address during this absence please?

I checked with Home office, they suggested not to mention outside UK address in the form. They requested to provide covering letter mentioning India address during the absence.

Yes you can mention the temporary Indian address during temporary absence. You can add it in the 'additional information' page if you need to and have a UK address that was yours for the time you were out of the UK. If you did not have a UK address during your absence, don't lie and mentioned a previous one.

Thanks a lot for immediate response.

I am declaring these absence in section 2.2. Is it fine if there is a 212 days gap in my past 5 years address in section 1.17?

I believe case worker may understand that , I am outside UK for 212 days as per section 2.2 hence during this period no UK address provided. I felt providing temporary India address in additional information may complicate the process.

Please advise.

There is NO rule for citizenship that states you cannot have X amount of absences in one go. You are not repeated ILR requirements.

Thanks. I think you misunderstood my question. I agree I am allowed to have absence.

Is it required to provide India address in additional information? I felt its not required to provide the temporary address overseas. Please share your view. Thanks in advance for your patience and help.

There is no requirement to 'prove' or submit any evidence of address.

You are overthinking.

7.5 If you are not applying on the basis for spouse of British citizen then no, you do not need to send spouse passport.

7.7 No you do not tick the box. You need to draw a line through the paragraph.

Query on Passport Application form

Post by prss_vel83 » Fri Jan 12, 2018 8:19 pm

Hi All,

I am applying naturalisation and passport through NCS. Please help me to fill the below section in passport form.

Section 3: I have valid Indian passport and one expired Indian passport. Do I need to provide both these Indian passport numbers in section 3?

Section 4: Do I need to provide the surname along with the first name for my father? I am asking this question because in AN form I provided only the father first name in sec 1.24.
