Re: Professional referee for my kids

A retired British Dr can be professional referee of my kids for ANI form? But he is not engaged with the child in a professional capacity. Please help me…. I don't think that the professional referee needs to be engaged with the child in a professional capacity: he or she has to be a professional...

Plenty of people who apply for naturalisation are not employed, and plenty of these have never been employed in the UK (the old-style "housewife" or "home duties" being one obvious example). Apply through the Nationality Checking Service (NCS) run by your local council, or by another convenient coun...

The situation is explained (fairly clearly) here . Essentially, if you gave up British citizenship in order to acquire or retain another citizen and the renunciation of British citizenship was necessary in order to do that, you have a right to resume British citizenship once; subsequent resumptions ...

Thanks Christophe. However, I was personally told by an IO at the airport that a naturalization certificate can be presented as proof of British citizenship. Even according to the page from the UKBA: — a certificate of entitlement to the right of abode - Well, isn't a naturalization certificate e...

As above, there is no requirement, in either British law or regulation, that requires British citizens to use a British passport to enter the UK. All that is required is that the documentation presented be adequate for the purpose and duration of the visit. (This is in contradistinction to the situa...

But my point was that once he has had a passport in his name, he will be in the British passport "system", which makes subsequent applications easier.

Thanks. Given that he'll have a Spanish passport for travelling, is there actually any point or gain in applying for a British passport until he actually wanted to move to Britain when he's older? Applying for a British passport now gets him "into the system". It's easy for you to gather together t...

My question hasn't been satisfactorily answered. If a child is born in the UK to a parent who, at the time of the birth, is settled in the UK (indefinite leave to remain/permanent residence/right of abode, or of course a British citizen), then that child is a British citizen by birth. If a child is...

Agree, British citizenship would be the most sensible option for her — probably cheaper in the long run and removes any worry about her coming back to the UK (including if, please God not, something were to happen to you). She might want to look at the question of dual citizenship though before sh...

To answer your question requires a knowledge of Malaysian citizenship law as well as British law. As posted above, it is possible to renounce British citizenship – although only if you have or will gain another citizenship. (In other words, you can't renounce British citizenship if that would make...

Hi everyone, I'm a little confused about this requirement that you have to be in the UK for a week after you apply for citizenship. Does anyone know why this is? And how exactly would they even know if you are here or not?? Thx for your help! Is it actually a requirement or is it just advice? You m...

How will they know this? Use NCS - you do not need to send passport. The NCS will photocopy each page of the passport, I imagine. But I don't think it's a problem, provided that the OP fulfils the requirements for naturalisation. In any case, the application for the Australian visa was made before ...

Based on what you post, your children are both Canadian and British and so are entitled to both passports. Yes, unless you are the spouse or civil partner of a British citizen (and applying on that basis), you need to have held settled status – in this case ILR – for at least 12 months before applying for naturalisation.

You should be able to travel, because your husband can travel on his existing passport. A request for a return of passport does not mean the withdrawal of a naturalisation application.

Re: british citizenship question plz?

There is no particular requirement to be in employment (or to have been in employment) to apply for naturalisation. There is also no problem with short periods outside the UK during the qualifying period. Are you a British citizen? In that case she can apply as the spouse of a British citizen, in wh...
