I finally got it. So happy. Thanks everyone.

Eligibility criteria: 2 years student visa, 2 years spouse visa, ILR
Language criteria met: UK degree, LIUK test
Current nationality: Iranian
Method of application: NCS
Council name if NCS used: Edinburgh
Date of application: 13.01.2014
Payment method: Credit card
Date of acknowledgement: 29.01.2014
Date approval received: 21.03.2014 (letter's dated: 11.03.2014)
Date of ceremony: 26.03.2014 (private ceremony)

And this PROVES that Nationality Help Desk update on application status is UNWORTHY.
They replied my email on status update on 18th March saying that "No decision is made yet". However, my approval letter's date is 11th March. So better not waste time and get disappointed.

  Interesting aside relating to the above waiting times - the second half of this post is an email reply from the Home Office confirming a decision being made on an application, followed by a gap of a few days before the decision letter was dispatched.

I have excluded the following applicants since date of receipt of one's application by the UKBA is the effective application date (if I am incorrect, please let me know, as I am merely going by the timelines posted):

Alhamdulilah finally received my approval.applied on 23/1/14 receiced by ho on 24/1/14 fees debited 3/2/14 acknowledgement letter 5/2/14 date approved 19/3/14 receipt of approval 22/3/14.phoned ho on 19/3/14 n they said my application is incomplete.Huge thanks for all the board members for great support.

Congrats Hina, it seems we should not believe whatever HO responds us either over the phone or through email. But who knows.

I already have a Certificate of Registration since 1995 and requested the HO to amend the spelling of my name on it.

Payment method: Debit Card Payment Slip
Date of receipt by UKBA: 20/01/2014

Date of debit or clearance of fees: 30/01/2014
Date approval received: 22/03/2014 (dated 14/03/2014 )
Date of ceremony: to be arranged

As you probably know, I kept sending the update requests via the email for the whole of this week, i.e. Monday-Friday (5 emails). The replies came within 2 hours with identical text: "There is no decision made..." On Friday, I received the different email saying "please do not keep asking us as this will take 6 month". I was glad that my email was read by a real person and not the robot.

Anyway, what I am trying to say that the decision has been made on the 14th March and the replies to my emails from the 18th March were saying that it hasn't. So do not waste your time asking, they haven't got a clue!

Sorry the delay of update
We were initially given a date in March but as I am away for work abroad, could not make the date. I had to request for an extension as I would not be back before the end of the 3 month window which was mid- may ( I think the 18th to be precise). I was then given a further 6 weeks extension - till sometime in July hence the delay in the date of the ceremony. This forum has been very helpful. Many thanks to all

I have received my approval letter but no ceremony letter can any body tell me how long will it take to receive ceremony letter as I hv some family problem back home and need to go abroad asap.ho told me to wait two weeks but my problem is a bit urgent........any advice would b higly appreciated.

You can book a private ceremony, but you can't attend without the original invitation letter from HO.

Thanks collipu n I only had approval letter from ho but no invitation letter from council so it means I have to wait which is sad cuz im stuck in a bad situation
